In fact, for Final Fantasy III, it is the only way to experience the game since the original has never been localised at all. This pair of games actually received their own 3D remakes on the Nintendo DS, and are currently the best ways to experience these games. Final Fantasy II’s level progression is still a little underwhelming though, so maybe they could also borrow from XII’s Zodiac Job System.
Judging by the renders in Dissidia, it’s apparent that the characters of Final Fantasy I and II translate very well into 3D, so maybe a three-dimensional remake that keeps the core gameplay mechanics intact is what we need. That said, these two games have never been rendered in 3D, with every remake of the game keeping the sprite-based aesthetic. As the first two entries of the series, these two have laid a lot of groundwork for the franchise as a whole, like the iconic Job class system, Chocobos, and having characters named Cid in every entry.
